YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
We believe that young people should have the abilities, skills, and confidence to express their thoughts and beliefs, contribute to their communities, and better understand the world around them.
THE CRISIS ROOM / ABOUT
An initiative led by youth, for youth — built around dialogue, critical thinking, and the confidence to be heard.
01 / ABOUTWHAT IS TCR?
The Crisis Room is an initiative led by youth for youth. Established on August 11th, 2025, TCR operates by collaborating with various NGOs across Lebanon with different values and perspectives to cover several issues faced by the Lebanese nation and the international community.
Additionally, TCR organizes annual crisis simulation conferences that are inspired by MUNs to deliver a fun and informative experience for all youth, while also collaborating with MUNs held throughout the country to bring TCR's unique experience to their conferences.
WHY WAS TCR CREATED?
The main purpose behind TCR is empowering youth. Whether through organizing activities and campaigns with different organizations or through hosting crisis conferences, we aim to empower Lebanese youth and strengthen their abilities and knowledge.
Through our collaborations with NGOs and other organizations, we raise awareness among youth about pressing national and international issues, while our crisis conferences aim to develop critical skills such as leadership, time management, communication, and cooperation.
03 / CORE VALUES
The principles behind how we create spaces, conversations, and experiences for young people.
We believe that young people should have the abilities, skills, and confidence to express their thoughts and beliefs, contribute to their communities, and better understand the world around them.
We value respectful dialogue and communication to navigate the problems at hand and find a solution through negotiation.
We believe that leadership isn't about taking a certain position, but about assuming responsibility and striving for positive change.
We strive to create spaces for youth to participate actively, share perspectives, and be heard.
We encourage youth to analyze and question issues rather than accepting information at face value.
WHAT MAKES TCR DIFFERENT?
While inspired by MUNs, TCR was created with a broader purpose, which is to empower youth through engagement in real issues facing our world.
TCR aims to transform discussions surrounding politics and diplomacy into engaging learning experiences for young people, whether they come from an MUN background or not, creating an opportunity to build the confidence needed for their voices to be heard.
05 / THE TCR EXPERIENCE
A global crisis scenario begins the conference.
Delegates work within their assigned blocs.
The situation evolves as new developments are released.
Resolutions are presented, questioned, and debated.
Chairs evaluate the effectiveness of each bloc.
The conference begins with a global crisis scenario. Delegates are preassigned into blocs and must immediately begin developing a resolution paper addressing the crisis.
Throughout the session, the Crisis Team will release updates that may escalate, complicate, or redirect the situation. Delegates are expected to continuously adapt their strategy in response.
Once blocs finalize their resolutions, one or two sponsors will present them before the committee. This is followed by questions from other Delegates or from the Chairs and debates.
Each delegate receives a Role Sheet containing their assigned bloc and the shared objective of the conference. At the end of the simulation, the Chairs evaluate which bloc most effectively achieved the shared objective through their resolution paper.
06 / WHO TCR IS FOR
TCR is for those who have a million ideas but rarely get the chance to share them.
You don't have to be experienced to join TCR, you only have to own a voice ready to be heard. People who enjoy debating and negotiating will find a chance to communicate and cooperate with others to find solutions on different disputes.
WHY TCR FOCUSES ON YOUTH
We believe that youth aren't merely the leaders of tomorrow, but active contributors to society today.
As part of our contribution to advancing Lebanese society, we work on raising awareness among youth on issues that affect their lives directly, while also strengthening their abilities to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
08 / THE STORY
TCR began as a late-night idea on a birthday, to create something inspired by MUNs but different.
At first, The Crisis Room was all about crisis simulations designed to make the experience more engaging. Through experience, TCR developed into something far beyond its original concept. It grew from being an event into an initiative that creates spaces for youth development.
09 / TCR'S MISSION
At the heart of TCR is a commitment to inspire youth to challenge themselves and encounter different perspectives. Through our interactive format, we aim to have every participant leave our conference more willing to engage in discussions and more confident.
While our collaborations and other activities are designed to raise the capabilities of youth to contribute to their societies.
TCR'S LONG-TERM VISION
We envision TCR growing into a recognized platform led by youth in Lebanon, one with regular programs and events.
As we continue to evolve, we hope to expand our reach and build stronger partnerships. We also aspire to build a community where ideas are not only discussed, but transformed into action.
To everyone who finds their way to TCR,
The Crisis Room started as an idea I had at 2 a.m. on my birthday, and I didn't know where it would lead. I started it because I knew I wanted to create something that didn't quite exist yet, not because I knew exactly what it would become.
Uncertainty is a part of the growth process; if you're stepping into TCR without knowing what to expect, you've come to the right place.
If there is one thing I want TCR to remind people of, it's that you don't always have to have everything figured out from the first step. On your journey of growth, sooner or later, you will begin to see the vision you're striving to achieve, and that is something you should be proud of.
If you're reading this before your first TCR experience, whether it is a conference or a collaboration, I hope you come in without feeling like you have something to prove.
You are here to learn, to grow, and to discuss. I hope you leave with something you didn't have when you arrived.
